So it has been a little over three years in the making. Its been a longer than expected and more difficult than imagined. But finally its finished…Well, sort of, at least we are living in the house finally. There are still lots of items to be done such as staining trim, touch up paint here and there, install some missing fixtures, organize…blah, blah, blah…Here are the pictures…Its what you really wanted to see anyways!

This window turned out perfect, it was one of the last I shaped so I got pretty good at it! |

The entire great room! We are so happy our project is finally done. It is a joy everyday to wake up in our beautiful home. We hope you enjoy the pictures, and hope that it can inspire you in whatever home projects you may have planned! |
We are thinking of building a straw bale house in the Austin area, too! But we were hoping to work with a builder, more than do the work ourselves. We envy that y'all were able to put so much of your own love into your house! But we can't do the heavy lifting. Can I contact you about getting a name of contractors you'd recommend? My email address is julie (then) holden (then) realtor (all together with no spaces). At Google.
ReplyDeleteI am a freelance writer for texashillcountry.com, and I'm working on an article about alternative building in the hill country. I would like to talk to you about your experience and straw bale success after a year of living in the house. The article I'm working on needs to be complete today or tomorrow, it was given on short notice. If you can please let me know if you would be interested in sharing your experiences.
